Mozilla jpg AND IE pjpeg why?

I came across a strange error today for image uploading. On server side, mozilla send mime type for all jpg as image/jpg/ but in case of IE it sends image/pjpeg.

After googling I found some interesting thinks about the pjpeg. Its stands for Progressive JPEG. You can find out more information here.

why IE does it differently?

Maybe it’s just IE’s terrible standards support forcing people to use user-agent based hacks for random browsers. In the process, IE picks up other technologies and tries to force people onto them (ActiveX, anyone?). At least if you code in PHP you can use $_SERVER[‘USER_AGENT’] (or something like that) and shout at the person for using IE. Mmm, end user torture.
